Solar Eruption deals the highest damage the closer you are to the target, whereas Daybreak deals the same damage at any range. This coupled with the fact that Daybreak has more reach, it's better when you're at a distance from the enemy. However I must agree that the Solar Eruption is generally the better weapon in most circumstances.
